What's a recall?

When a product turns out to be dangerous, the brand and the government publish an official warning and ask owners to stop using it. The warning reaches the first owner. The next one usually never hears about it.

The three answers

Every answer tells you what to do next.

Recalled

This exact product is on an official danger list. Don't buy it as it is. The notice says what the owner should do.

Check the label

Only some units of this model are affected, for example ones made in certain months. Ask the seller for a photo of the label. Vetted writes the message for you, in French.

No recall found

Nothing in the official lists matches. Vetted shows what it searched and anything that came close. Still check the item's condition, as you normally would.

Chrome extension

Browse as usual. Vetted checks as you go.

Open a listing on Leboncoin or Vinted and a tag appears on the photo within seconds: green, amber or red. Click it for the full answer.

Questions people ask

What exactly is a recall?

An official warning that a product can be dangerous. The brand and the government publish it, say which units are affected, and tell owners what to do, usually stop using it and get a free repair, replacement or refund.

Where does the data come from?

From the two official sources: RappelConso, run by the French government, and Safety Gate, the European Commission's list of dangerous products. Vetted downloads both every day. It never makes up a recall.

Is it free?

Yes. Checking a listing on the website or with the Chrome extension is free, with no account.

Can the AI get it wrong?

The AI only reads the listing. The answer comes from fixed rules that compare it with the official notice, and Vetted shows you that notice so you can check it. When it can't be sure, it says "check the label" instead of guessing.

What kinds of products does it cover?

Anything in the French and EU recall lists: car seats, prams, toys, bikes and scooters, chargers and power banks, appliances, clothing and more.

Does the extension read my data?

No. It only reads the listing page you open, and only on Leboncoin and Vinted. No account, no tracking.

What if something I already own is recalled?

Follow the steps in the official notice. Usually you stop using it and contact the brand for a free repair, replacement or refund.

Buying something second-hand this week?

Check it first. It takes five seconds and it's free.
